Bring Back the Experts the Government Fired

AFGE Local 1534 launches media campaign urging Congress to Reinstate, Compensate, and Protect public servants.

Since July 2025, the U.S. government has fired more than 5,000 State Department and USAID career experts while it continues to outsource inherently governmental functions to loyalists and replace dedicated public servants with more expensive contractors. We urge Congress to pause the contractor hiring spree and to reinstate, compensate, and protect public servants.

These RIFs have led to a loss of critical foreign affairs infrastructure and institutional knowledge and support.
